O Observatório de Desporto, Educação, Comunidades (ODEC), integrado no Centro de Investigação e Intervenção Educativas (CIIE) organiza o 1st International Meeting on Sport, Education and Communities: Beyond the Field. Trata-se de um seminário que pretende pensar a atividade física e o desporto a partir do seu potencial enquanto elemento de intervenção e mudança social em diversos contextos e junto de vários públicos-alvo. A inclusão pelo desporto, a saúde mental, a responsabilidade social e a ética constituem alguns dos principais tópicos da agenda.

The Observatory of Sport, Education and Communities (ODEC), integrated in the Centre for Educational Research and Intervention (CIIE) is organizing the 1st International Meeting on Sport, Education, and Communities: Beyond the Field. It’s a seminar which intends to think about physical activity and sport at school through its potential as a tool for intervention in various contexts and with various audiences. Inclusion, mental health, social responsibility, and ethics are some of the main topics on the agenda.

Dr Antonio Calderón is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, University of Limerick. He is the Course Director of the Professional Master of Education (Physical Education). He is also a member of the editorial board of the Curriculum Studies in Health and Physical Education and Journal of Teaching in Physical Education. Antonio has been a visiting scholar at the University of Porto (Portugal), The University of Auckland (New Zealand), Auburn University (USA) and University of Rome, Foro Itálico (Italy) to teach and research on curriculum models for teaching and learning. He is the 2017 winner of the Jennifer Burke Award for Innovation in Teaching and Learning and 2021 UL excellence in teaching award (teams). Antonio’s current research focus on digital pedagogies for teaching and learning in higher education by exploring the reality for teacher educators, school teachers and pre-service teachers in enacting or experiencing digital pedagogies. He also has been an active collaborator with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment in Ireland (statutory body of the Department of Education and Skills) supporting teachers to develop an effective integration of digital technology in teaching and learning.
